A Day in the Life

A snapshot of the lives, and wellbeing of people who experience mental health difficulties in England

A Day in the Life was a year-long project to collect the everyday experiences of people who experience mental health difficulties in England. People who experience a mental health difficulty signed up to share with the world what their day was like on four calendar dates across the length of the project.

People didn’t have to use their real names and could be as anonymous as they wanted to be. They didn’t need to have a diagnosis or be currently receiving treatment.  872 individual days were submitted.

The everyday life of people with mental health difficulties has tended to remain hidden.  Together we can change that by sharing what makes life better and what makes life worse.  The first day in the life was Friday 7th November 2014.  The second day was February 10th 2015. The third was May 10th 2015. The final day was August 26th 2015.

In March 2016, Social Spider CIC and Centre for Mental Health published an analysis of what 782 of the days submitted told us about what affected people’s wellbeing living with mental health difficulty.

If you’re ready, sign up to share your days. Find out more about how the project works and what to expect by reading the how-to guide.
